38 Week Appointment

I am getting closer. I am 50% effaced and dilated to a 2. And my tummy is 39 cm. Yeah! I even had a contraction as the nurse was examining me. This is where everything starts to count. My doctor said he believes I am having a big baby. Aaron asked the doctor, "Do you think the baby will be over 8 pounds?" The doctor said, "Yes, depending on when he is actually born." I got the impression that Ian will be in the 9 lb weight range. Maybe even 10 lb. You've seen my brother, right? And my husband? The only concern my doctor has at this point is that he may have broad shoulders. Again, you've seen my brother and husband, right? The head shouldn't be a problem. But if the shoulders don't fit, that means the "c" word. Yuck! We have a lot to decide. I guess you have more chance of having a "c" word if you get started. So it is always better to let your body just go into labor by itself. I am so excited! I can see the end of the tunnel.

37 week appointment

Today the doctor said I am only dilated to a 1 or 1 1/2. And I am still not effaced at all. I guess I won't be going into labor early. Dang it! I am so swollen though and my left leg is bigger than my right, so he said my uterus position (or something like that) is on the opposite side than in most pregnancies. I don't think that really mattered, but I am not sure. Also I guess I tested positive for the Strep B. He said that everyone has Strep B bacteria in them at times in their life and my levels are just high right now. It doesn't hurt me at all, but the baby can get sick when he is delivered. So they will just put an antibiotic in my IV when I am in labor. My doctor says I am a worrier so he doesn't like to tell me any kind of news that I might take as bad news. I think he was talking about the baby being breech. He said the baby would probably turn which he was right. But my boss's daughter (who is 1 1/2 weeks ahead of me) was told by her doctor that 95% of the time they just take them c-section. So of course I was worried. That is just the nature of pregnant women.

Funny story

Okay now that it is getting hot outside, I am swelling even more. Yes, I have cankles. Also my boy is packing on the weight because that is what they do in the last month. So needless to say, my maternity clothes are getting tight on me. So today I was feeling especially cowish. I guess it wasn't just a feeling.....because my button popped right off my maternity shirt where my baby bump is sticking out the most! LOL! Hope you got a good laugh.

Baby Shower at Work

Dixie and Meagan were the party planners. Look at all the food they are preparing.
These two put a lot of effort and time into this baby shower. Everyone else in the office brought food too. Everyone especially liked the bow tie salad that Sue made. Yum!

Some of the presents that I received. One of the gifts was a baby monitor. Nice!

Everthing was decorated so cute!

The best part about the decorations was they were all things I could use for the baby.
Here is that recipe for the Bow-tie salad

Sue's Bow Tie Salad
1 Box Bow Tie Pasta-Cooked
1 can pineapple tidbits-drained
1 can mandarin oranges-drained
1 C chopped celery
red grapes-whole seedless
2 finely chopped green onions
4 chicken breasts-cooked, diced
Dressing-1 bottle Kraft Coleslaw Dressing
mixed with 1 C Mayonaise
Toss in 1 can salted cashews just before serving

36 Week Appointment

He turned! Little Ian is head down. Hopefully I have escaped the need for a c-section. My dad and my brother-in-law, John gave me a blessing on Sunday. Looks like Ian listened. My doctor did an ultrasound to see if Ian had turned around. I was so excited to get an ultrasound. I thought I would be able to see details of the little guy but I was wrong. They get so squished in there. Everything was so blurred. So I didn't get to see his cute little face. At this stage, you can get a really good shot of his spin.......whoopdy doo! I am still measuring big (38 centimeters). I am dilated to a 1 1/2 and I have not effaced at all. So it looks like it will still be awhile before I deliver this little one.

A few more pregnancy pics!

I wanted to see if my belly is as big as a basketball. Aaron has his basketball in his shirt.

A Touch of Terrific on Mother's Day!

This is my big baby bump, Heather stuffed a pillow in her shirt. We were goofing around.
Me with my sisters on Mother's Day. We had a bunch of good laughs. We went to BlueBird to eat and then everyone came back to my house after.

Happy Mother's Day mom! We had a great day. I hope yours was as good as mine. My kids made me cards......so cute! I teared up. And Aaron was the perfect hubby. He surprised me with a card, flowers, and candy. Then he cleaned the kitchen, did the laundry, cut me up fruit, and went to church with me. What a great day!

Doctor Appt. - 35 weeks

I went to the doctor by myself yesterday because up to this point everything in my pregnancy has looked okay. But to my dismay, (who uses that word) my beautiful little boy has found a new comfortable position......breech. My doctor is optimistic that he may turn on his own. But my boss's daughter has a baby turned breech and her doctor said 95% of the time there is a reason they are breech.....too small of an umbilical cord, the cord is wrapped around their neck, etc. If my baby hasn't turned by 39 weeks, then my doctor will take me into the hospital and do an ultrasound. If everything looks okay, he will turn the baby and start me into labor right then. If there is a problem then I have to have the dreaded "c" word. I cried and cried. My poor husband had to comfort me last night. He missed the Laker game. I didn't even realize that until this morning. And I heard it was a good game too. My mom and sister-in-law told me they have both had a feeling that I will have a c-section. They felt it would be a result of his large size. Well...I hope you will all keep me in your prayers. I really don't want a long recovery. I was looking forward to being an active, great stay-at-home mom for my 6 weeks off.
