New Arrival

Ian is here. What a beautiful, wonderful joy in our lives! He was 9 lbs. 5 ozs. and 20 inches long. He was born Sunday, June 7th. All my kids were born on "7's". Taylor the 17th of November and Matt the 7th of July. My water broke at 5:30 in the morning and I didn't have him until 3:55 p.m. It was long, but practically pain free. These days you can have an epidural as soon as you want. It makes it pretty, darn easy. I will never understand why someone wants to go all natural.

39th Week Appointment

Well, I went to the doctor today. And I got to have an ultrasound!!! Oh, and he is still a boy. The tech measures the baby and calculates the weight of the baby using his measurements. The tech would only tell us he weighs 8+. But the doctor spilled the beans. I guess her exact calculation was 8 lbs. 15 oz's. One oz. away from from 9 lbs. That kind of made Aaron mad that she didn't tell us 9 lbs. Also, I guess I still have a lot of fluid in my tummy. The doctor said, "that means you will have more contractions, more pain, measure bigger, and it will be harder to breath." Aaron laughed and said, "you just described her to a 'T' ".

I always get so excited to get examined. I know that sounds weird. It is humiliating to expose yourself but it is the coolest thing to find out that your body is making progress toward going into labor. My tummy measured 40-41 centimeters (I thought measurements should be exact, but whatever), I am dilated to a 2, 70% effaced, and softened. I guess that is pretty good. It is progress but I don't think labor will happen on its own for a least another week, week in a half. My doctor thinks he should start me next week. He asked us what day works for us. I was thinking the end of the week, like Friday. And then Aaron spoke up and said with his work schedule, Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days for him. He can get someone to cover him at work. So the doctor scheduled us for Monday. We may not get in though because they are so busy on Monday. I guess I have to call in at 6:00 a.m. and see if they can fit me in or not. I signed up for the last room available. So if people come in that start on their own, then I will probably not be able to come in. Which is okay with me. I would rather have my baby on a Friday. I just really want to have an extra weekend with my baby before I have to return to work.

Well this is exciting. The next time I post, I might be holding a little bundle in my arms!!

Track & Field

Taylor and Matt are in track/field. Matt has been wanting to be in track for years now. I finally found a kid's track team. I believe Taylor is only in track to be with her friends that are in it. She is so strong in her upper body that I think she will do well in the the shot put (softball toss at this age). Matt is the one that surprised me. He went to a track camp last week and he got 1st place in the shot put. Crazy?! He is such a tiny, little thing. I am excited because this Thursday is their first track meet. I can't wait! It will be fun to see how they match up with other kids their own ages. I will have to post pictures later if I don't go into labor by then. I know this might be too much information but I use this blog as a personal journal as well, so read on with discretion....my mucus plug came out on Friday. I was sitting on my bed (no undies), when I noticed I felt wet. I stood up and looked at down at the bed and there was a wet spot and a large mucus strand. I was so excited! I read in my pregnancy bible that labor could be one or two days away or even one or two weeks away. So it isn't a good predictor of labor. Oh well, I guess I won't be having Ian early, unless the doctor starts me.
